Soup Restaurant @ NEX

A while back, Kaishi and I went to the Soup Restaurant at NEX to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary. I’ve never been to the Soup Restaurant before, so I decided to do up a slight review of the food there that we tasted (after all, all I knew of was the Soup Soon HAHA).

The exterior of the restaurant looks like any other Chinese restaurant you can find, and so I recall walking past one at Changi Airport’s Terminal 2 but never really took notice of it. Here’re some pictures of the area:

The small corridor opens up to a larger dining area further inside.

Private dining rooms are also available for reservation, though not really private.

There’s also a poster of the history of Soup Restaurant and their famous ‘Samsui’ women in olden days heritage:

We dined at the larger dining area towards the rear of the restaurant, where we got a comfortable table for 4 persons. As part of their promotion, Soup Restaurant is giving out a set of free appetizer dishes for every dining table there.

Free opening treats!

Crispy and spicy ikan bilis

Cold "toufu" with soy sauce. It's really delicious!

Overview of the appetizer dishes - includes other dishes such as lettuce, fried fish skin, jellyfish...etc

And here comes the main courses:

Boiled pork ribs and carrot soup

Yang Zhou fried rice

Steamed "San Yu" Fish Slices

Sweet & sour pork with cherry tomatoes

Fried baby "Kai Lan" with REALLY BITTER tong kwai

Ginger and spring onion New Zealand Venison - really soft and tender!

And of course, not to forget the main signature dish at Soup Restaurant:

Signature Samsui Ginger Chicken

The ginger chicken is supposed to be eaten with lettuce slices dipped in the garlic/ginger sauce, but I was too lazy to take a photo of the lettuce (after all, they look the same right!). But the chicken is really awesomely tender and soft.

I would rate the food there as a high 9 out of 10, and indeed really worth the money. We spent approximately close to a hundred for a total of 4 pax, and really ate till our hearts’ content.

Head down and give it a try now at:
